Adidas Invitational: Recap
INDIANAPOLIS, IN | The first live period is over and we found out a lot this week as offers came out, prospects showed out, and we were able to sift through quite a few notes over the last couple days. Now, we take a look at the biggest topics from the Adidas Invitational.
2019’s Put Their Mark On The Market
The class of 2019 is on full display right now and there are a handful of guys we saw this weekend that established their talent level for the college coaches on hand. Guys like Ethan Conley from Franklin Monroe (OH), Jacob Laravia of Lawrence Central (IN), Gage McGuire of Coldwater (MI), and Allen Plunkett of South Putnam (IN).
Each of those four players were stellar this weekend and with the loads of colleges on hand, they were able to either pick up offers or put themselves on the radar of higher level programs. Conley already had a ton of DII offers and interest but there were a few coaches from around the gym at the DII/DI level that were inquiring as to his status. Laravia came from nowhere to land a handful of DII/DI offers. McGuire picked up his first offer from Cincinnati Christian but the level of inquiry was way higher by the end of the weekend. Was one of the more talked about players. Allen Plunkett kept his game going and was able to draw in a Bethel College offer.
2020’s Stepping Up
The class of 2020 is a light one but more and more we are seeing names pop up that could have an impact by the time we get to their senior years. A couple names to watch out for are Carson Burtron, Will Lasater, and Grant Coleman.
Burtron and Lasater both play for Indiana Elite Heat 2019 and were both at the top of our list of performers coming out of this weekend. Burtron is a tall guard from Lebanon (IN) who looks more and more like a solid lead guard at the next level whether that is on or off the ball. Will Lasater is an emerging forward from West Lafayette (IN). This weekend he was more put together and skilled than we saw before, shooting the ball at a high level for his size. Grant Coleman is a big from Mahomet-Seymour (IL) whose put his body back in shape and was as aggressive a player as we saw at any level all weekend, scoring a ton of points from all three levels.
Southwest Rebels 2021 A Team To Watch
While we didn’t get a chance to watch too many 2021’s this weekend, one of the best surprises was that of Southwest Rebels 2021 group who is home to Joe Bomba, Lincoln Hale, Alex Money and more. This group was stellar all game long and for a small Southern Indiana program, they had a ton of talent to pay attention to.
Lincoln Hale, a 6’2 guard from Linton-Stockton (IN) was really good when we were able to watch, showcasing so many different skills and scoring options. Awesome shooter but has really been able to diversify his game in the last year and taken a big step forward.
There were a couple new names to watch out of this as Jackson Miracle and Joe Bomba really shined. Miracle is a tall wing from Bedford North Lawrence, Bomba a big guard from Bloomington South (IN). Jackson is long and lanky and had a solid inside out game, just lacked some strength right now. Bomba is probably the best of his older siblings when it comes to basketball. Really skilled and longer and thinner frame that should play well for him right now.
