A-Town Takeover: Notable Stock Risers From Live Periods 1 & 2 In Atlanta.
2019 G Chase Hunter (Atlanta Xpress)- Hunter started off July by stealing the show in a big-time matchup against B-Maze, finishing with 26 points and catching the attention of Tom Izzo, Tom Crean, and other top coaches in attendance. He hasn’t slowed down since, picking up offers from schools like Wake Forest, Georgia, Providence, Oklahoma, and most recently Virginia. We’ve known about Hunter’s athletic ability for a while, but he has continued to progress his skills throughout high school. He is now an efficient shooter from deep and has a smooth, effective pull-up jumper. Hunter is an excellent on-ball defender as well, making him one of the best two-way prospects in the state. Expect more HM programs to jump in this last week.
2020 W Jackson Sivills (Hoop Dreams)- Sivills came into July with 2 offers and tripled that total just in the past week, with 4 offers coming in from Kent State, UT-Martin, Samford, and Rice. He was steady at the OTR Super 6, showing different parts of his game throughout the week. Sivills has nice size on the perimeter and a solid build for a young wing. He takes what the defense gives him and looks to impact the game in other areas when his outside shot is falling. His well-rounded game makes him an attractive prospect and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s talked about on a national scale this time next year.
2019 G Hunter Cattoor (Team M.O.A.M)- Cattoor started July hot and did not slow down at all in at the Best Of The South, receiving offers from Northern Kentucky, Samford, Drake, College of Charleston, and getting his first high major offer from UCF. He excels as a shooter but also impressed with his toughness and IQ. He is a good passer who does not make many bad decisions with the ball and thrives in big moments. Team M.O.A.M got great production from Cattoor, and others, the entire weekend, making them a popular watch by coaches every game. Expect Cattoor and his squad to carry this momentum into Super Showcase.
2019 F Dontavius King (Team EAT)- King has gained more LM/MM attention than probably any Georgia prospect in July, receiving 10+ offers in less than two weeks. The powerful forward is always up to compete and abuses opponents with his strength and athleticism. Team EAT has some solid guards but King also shows flashes of his own perimeter skill, handling the ball in transition and even taking some 3’s. A lasting memory I’ll have of King this month is when he went for a between the legs dunk at the buzzer against ATL Hoops and then stared down their bench. He wanted to make a statement this month, and he has.
