5 Players to Watch in the 2018-2019 Season (Class of 2020)
As the season quickly approaches, it is smart to recognize all of the great talent that you need to see in the 2018-2019 season. Here is the list of 5 players you need to watch in the Class of 2020:
Favorites:
Kyree Walker (Hillcrest Prep) – What else is there to say about Kyree Walker? Everyone knows him from YouTube, the Drew League, or from seeing him dunk over three kids at a charity camp. Walker is already committed to Arizona State University and will undoubtedly be in the NBA. Who wouldn’t want to see a future NBA player while they were still in High School? Walker is by far the #1 Player in the Class of 2020.
Evan Nelson (Salpointe Catholic) – First, we need to talk about that State Tournament run. Nelson came onto the scene and instantly made a name for himself, leading his team all the way to the State Championship game. Salpointe was 15-16 without Nelson. I am very interested to see what Nelson does with a full season. Nelson should fill the stat sheet due to his natural scoring ability and his high basketball IQ.
Xavier Dusell (Chaparral) – If I had to choose three words that described Dusell they would be shooter, shooter, and shooter. This kid can straight up shoot the rock and does so at a very high rate. Dusell should easily be considered the Best Shooter in the Class of 2020. If you are not in his face, he is going to knock down a deep three. His amazing shooting ability definitely makes him a fun player to watch.
Zay On-Tay Boothman (Buckeye) – Buckeye got to the State Semi-Finals last year, where they lost in OT to Salpointe. I fully expect Buckeye to be back in the Semi’s and contest for a spot in the Championship game due to Boothman.
Sleeper:
Khalid Whitaker (Flowing Wells) – Khalid is a flat out scorer. He is very quick and has nice handles to match, making it virtually impossible to stop him from getting to the basket. Khalid also has the ability to shoot it deep, sometimes even behind the NBA line. His scoring ability makes him a must watch player in the 2018-2019 season.
