5 Players to Watch in the 2018-2019 Season (Class of 2019)
As the season quickly approaches, it is smart to recognize all of the great talent that you need to see in the 2018-2019 season. Here is the list of 5 players you need to watch in the Class of 2019:
Favorites:
Nico Mannion (Pinnacle) – Nico already had a huge following and was a must see this season, based off of his talent. However, as of last week, Nico has reclassified to the Class of 2019. This makes him an even bigger draw as he is now in his last high school season before going to play college ball. You should definitely check this kid out and watch one of Pinnacle’s game this season.
Jaelen House (Shadow Mountain) – House plays with the most emotion, heart, and fire I have ever seen out of a high school player. He wears in heart on his sleeve and it is easy to see how passionate he is about basketball and how determined he is to winning. Shadow Mountain puts on a show every night due to their high energy defense which is anchored by House.
Jovan Blacksher (Shadow Mountain) – Jovan is crucial to Shadow Mountain’s dominance of Arizona High School basketball. Jovan is the perfect partner with House, playing very cool and confident. Together, they make us the best back-court in the State. Look for Shadow Mountain to repeat as State Champs led by this dynamic duo.
Majok Deng (Salpointe Catholic) – Majok Deng is a star in every sense of the word. His personality and story really make you want to root for him and see him succeed. Deng is apart of another great back-court, alongside Evan Nelson. Deng and Nelson led their team to the State Championship game versus Shadow Mountain. Deng plays with a lot of passion and is looking to make another State Championship run, Salpointe Catholic is a must see this year.
Sleeper:
Jackson Ruai (Amphi) – Ruai is an athletic freak, who jumps through the roof. He is very long and has a lot of bounce. It is not uncommon to see him dunking over defenders during games. Every fast break is an opportunity for Ruai to demonstrate his tremendous dunking ability and there is always a chance he may put someone on his poster. Catching even one of Ruai’s in game dunks is well worth the price of admission.
