2021 Rankings: Top Post Players
Darrius Washington, Fern Creek (G3 Grind) – Washington climbed to second overall in the class in this update and could eventually become the top player depending on if Zion Harmon ever reclassifies to 2020. Darrius is long and athletic and has a high skill level for a player of his size. Look for him to continue improving and developing over the next three years as he could be a potential high major level player.
Trey James, Sheldon Clark (Manimal Elite 17u) – James slid to third overall but he is very much in the conversation for the top player in the class. Trey is likely to keep developing and getting better and it doesn’t hurt to have Kenneth Faried working with James on occasion. Trey is definitely a D1 prospect but it remains to be seen what level he ends up at. He has made several high major visits already and is likely to be on several campuses again this winter.
Cearius Warren, Southern (We All Can Go) – Warren is super athletic and capable of tearing the rim off with a dunk. What he needs to show more of is an ability to score the ball from the perimeter and play hard for a full game. “King” went from unranked to number 11 overall in this update and his ceiling is as high or higher than anyone in the class. Keep an eye on Cearius as he moves through his high school career.
Noah Gordon, Shelby County (Manimal Elite) – Gordon continues to show flashes of being a top player in the 8th region and in the 2021 class. Noah has to continue to improve his body and conditioning and that would improve his athleticism which is currently lacking. Gordon is a skilled player who has a Division I ceiling for sure but it will be up to Noah if he reaches his potential as a prospect or not.
Zeke Montgomery, North Bullitt (Louisville Magic) – Zeke was a prospect I saw for the first time in June. Montgomery shows a lot of potential and his future is probably more of a wing than a post but he has good size for the position and a high ceiling. This past weekend in Louisville, Zeke showed an improved ability to put the ball on the floor and attack the rim. Definitely a prospect to track in 2021, Montgomery has as bright of a future as he pushes himself to have.
