2020 SG Delvin White picks up D1 offer from Mississippi Valley State
Versatile shooting guard Delvin White picked up his second Division 1 offer from Mississippi Valley State University Wednesday afternoon.
Before Wednesday, White had only one offer from UT-Martin, with South Alabama showing interest.
White, who’s 6-foot-2 ½ and weigh 155-pounds, can play positions 1-4, but at Briarcrest Christian School, boys varsity basketball coach John Harrington will place White at shooting guard to play alongside 2021 point guard Kennedy Chandler.
White is long and athletic, and can defend multiple positions. In the Jerry Peters Memphis Summer Classic, White made 18 of 28 shots from the free throw line, and finished with 23 rebounds and 10 assists. In four of the Saints’ six games, White scored in double figures. He had 10 points against Melrose, 10 against MBA, 12 against Center Hill, and 13 against Hillsboro.
Harrington thinks White’s ceiling is high, but will need to improve on his outside shooting to become a legit shooting guard. White mainly drives to the basket, and is a difficult matchup because of his size.
White is a newcomer to Briarcrest Christian, as he transferred from Hamilton High School after his sophomore season. He joins a junior class that features D1 football prospects Jabari Small and Omari Thomas, Reggie Neely, and Marcellus Brigham. Earlier this month, Small picked up an offer from the University of Tennessee. Thomas has a total of 25 offers.
