Western North Carolina All-Grassroots Team
The first live period has come and gone. Some prospects have made the most of the two weeks that colleges were allowed to evaluate and in this column we take a look at the players that made the most of the first live period.
Caleb Mills (6’3, 2019 G) PSB Elite-Mills came into the live period with only a handful of low-to-mid major offers and had a productive first two live periods. He picked up his first high-major offer when Cincinnati offered the long and athletic scoring guard out of Asheville Christian Academy. Sim Frazier made it a point to get Mills on his always strong PSB Elite squad and it is paying off.
Caleb MillsD’Angelo Elliott (6’3, 2019 G) Mooresville Magic-One of the more physically ready guards in the area, Elliott joined up with Mooresville Magic in the second live period and for the most of May. He went from no offers to picking up a lot of interest from Big South, SoCon, A-Sun, A-10 schools. He is a really good defender, can score it all the way out to the three-point line, has long arms, and is just a basketball player with a high IQ.
Jalen Lecque (6’4, 2019 PG) NY Rent-One of the top prospects in the state overall, Lecque is as athletic as they come, he is bouncy, can score from all over the floor and is a game changer when he is attacking the rim. His play for the first two live periods was nothing short of a highlight film.
Raishaun Brown (6’0, 2019 PG) Team Vision-Brown had an offer from Western Carolina before the staff change and pulled his only offer for Division One off the table. He has had a strong first two live periods and is showing other Division One schools that he is for real and should garner some more attention come July.
Zeke Littlejohn (6’2, 2019 G) Upward Stars SE-Handling adversity is one of the key factors that college coaches look at when recruiting a player, Littlejohn has that. He saw his playing time diminish over the first couple of games on the Adidas gauntlet but he kept at it and kept at it and then it all started to click for him.
