UNCP Team Camp Underclassman to keep an eye on!
The younger players had their chance to show what they could do during the UNCP Team Camp and they did not disappoint, let’s take a look at some of the top underclassmen in attendance.
Knightdale HS 2021 G/F Jalen McDonald: The NBA player that came to mind when watching him play was current Sacramento Kings Guard Deaaron Fox. Most likely it’s due to the fact that they are both lefties and have the ability to get up the floor in a hurry, also the athletic ability as his young age is very impressive. The key for him is to stay locked in and active on both ends of the floor, if he can do that then he will be special.
Saint Pauls HS 2021 Guard Emonta Smith: We saw some flashes of how good he could be last year and now it seems as if he is taking on more of a leadership role for his team. He has the ability to run a team by getting others involved and does a nice job of attacking the paint and forcing the defense to collapse.
Lumberton HS 2021 Guard Charlie Miller: The son of a coach, you can see that he has spent a fair amount of time in the gym watching and learning the game. He has a smooth shooting stroke and showed some nice range on his shot, knocking down some trey balls.
Northwood Temple 2021 Point Guard Emmanuel Sepulveda: One of the top facilitating guards in attendance, he does a nice job of seeing the floor and has a gift for making tough passes look easy. Certain players seem like they enjoy scoring, but he’s the type that seems like he enjoys passing and getting others going.
Lumberton HS 2020 Forward Dwayne Davis : His height, length and wingspan were some of the things that caught our attention as well as his athletic ability. You can tell that he’s still raw and has some things on the court that he will need to get right over time, but the way he attacked the boards, especially on the offensive side, was very impressive.
