Top risers in KC (guards)
Prep Hoops Missouri takes a look at some of the top stock risers in Kansas City this offseason.
Javaunte Hawkins, 5’10, G, 2019, Lee’s Summit North
Hawkins has put together a strong spring running with MoKan Elite’s 17U squad and picked up his first offer from Howard on May 4. He brings terrific quickness, ball handling and the ability to knock down perimeter shots. He can score at all three levels and has the ability to get to the basket and finish in traffic against bigger, stronger players.
Glen McClintock, 6’1, G, 2019, Rockhurst
‘McClintock recently picked up an offer from Air Force aft4er putting together a terrific spring running with KC Team Rush. He is an all-around guard, capable of doing a little bit of everything at the offensive end of the court as he handles it well, can shoot from the outside but can also create a little off the bounce and get to the basket. He brings a fearless style of play to the court and a competitive nature.
Tyler Nelson, 6’2, G, 2019, Rockhurst
Nelson is a strong guard with good size and athleticism and a well-rounded skill set. He is capable of scoring the ball from the 3-point line, can get to the basket and is at his best moving without the ball. He has put together a strong offseason running with the KC Spurs and has seen his stock raise over the past few months.
Jalen Perry, 5’8, G, 2020, Liberty North
Perry isn’t very big, but he is poised for a breakout season for Liberty North. He is a strong guard who is capable of running the point, handling the ball under pressure, and has the ability to stick long range 3-pointers. He has put together a strong offseason running with MoKan Elite’s 16U squad.
Stevie Strong, 5’11, G, 2021, University
Strong hasn’t gotten a lot of hype just yet, but he is among the KC area’s premier young guards and has put together a strong offseason running with MoKan Elite’s 15U squad. He is a terrific ball handler, can run the point and has the ability to knock down 3-pointers from well beyond the arc.
