Team Spotlight: Team Attack 16u
Team Attack, under the leadership of Coach Delmer Jones, is a relatively new team that has had much success so far on the AAU Circuit. Already with one championship under their belt, they have competed at a high level in tournaments such as Bob Gibbons, GA Cup, and the Nike Invitational. In July, they will be playing in the Best of the South Tournament in Atlanta and AAU Showcase in Orlando. Many of their players are heading into their junior year of high school and look to make an immediate impact for their school teams. Here are the players who have contributed to Team Attack’s success this season:
Franklin Champion (Arabia Mountain HS)- Franklin Champion is a versatile 6’4 combo guard for Team Attack who scores well at all three levels. Champion shoots the ball at a high level off the dribble from the perimeter. He also rebounds and handles the ball well at his size. Champion is primed for a breakout year next season at Arabia Mountain.
Khalil Jones (Brookwood HS)- Jones is an aggressive scorer. He shoots the ball well from deep and is not shy when he has an open look. Jones is very active on the wing and does a good job of getting to the foul line. He is currently preparing himself for the school season, and his high school coach speaks very highly of his work ethic.
Varun Danak (Brookwood HS)- Standing at 6’7, Danak is a forward with great length. He is Team Attack’s rim protector and uses his length to block and alter shots. Danak also does a good job of finishing through contact or with a floater around the rim.
Clifton Baskerville (Greater Atlanta Christian)- Baskerville is always in attack mode. He scores very well in transition and has the uncanny ability to finish with either hand. There were many plays during the Nike Memorial Day Classic where he rebounded and took the ball coast to coast for layups. Baskerville will be solid guard for GAC next season.
Alex Daniels (Greater Atlanta Christian)- Alex Daniels rounds out the starting lineup for Team Attack. He is an athletic slasher who finished at the rim with many and-one opportunities throughout the tournament. Overall, Daniels brings the energy to the team.
Deandre Miller (Brookwood HS)- Miller is the 6th man for Team Attack. He makes plays at the point guard position and has proven himself as a knockdown shooter from three-point range. Miller is also a pest on defense and his hustle plays give Team Attack a much-needed boost off the bench.
Cole Perusek (Greater Atlanta Christian)- The third GAC product on Team Attack, Perusek provides great length on the perimeter at 6’4. He is talented offensively as he can knock down the open three and use his length to finish layups.
James Munlyn (North Gwinnett HS)- At 6’9, Munlyn is a big body off the bench. He uses his size to control the paint and grab rebounds. Munlyn has great potential if he continues to work on his post-game.
Evan Howell (Brookwood HS)- Evan Howell brings great length to the team. At 6’6 with long arms, Howell uses his length to grab rebounds and alter shots. He brings great energy and hustle to Team Attack.
