SWIC Blue Storm Team Camp (Top Teams)
Prep Hoops Missouri was in Belleville, IL on Sunday to take in the action at the Blue Storm Team Camp at Belleville East High and Southwestern Illinois College. There were several teams from the state of Missouri on hand to compete in the tournament. Here is a look at those teams:
Webster Groves: The Statesmen lose elite talents Courtney Ramey and Carte’are Gordon to graduate from a two-time state championship team, but the cupboard is not bare with several key players back. Moving into more prominent roles will be 6’3″ 2019 sharpshooter Ray Adams and 6’0″ 2019 guard Amorey Womack, who can score in bunches. Fellow 2019 guard Dallas King had an excellent day with his all-around hustle and activity. Holding it down inside was 6’5″ 2019 Stevie Wright and improved 6’7″ 2019 forward Malachy Simpson.
McCluer North: The Stars have a very athletic team capable of making a lot of noise in 2019. They have a dynamic duo of 6’2″ 2019 A’tavian Butler and 6’3″ Patrick Evans, who attack the basket and play above the rim. Running the show is 5’8″ 2019 guard Mekai Ray while 6’2″ 2019 guard Steve Lee can knock down jumpers. 6’4″ 2020 wing Sylvan Mosby also displayed his versatility.
Mehlville: The Panthers will be a factor in St. Louis in 2019. They return their top two players in 6’5″ 2020 guard Dylan Branson and 6’2″ 2020 guard King Waller. Branson is a bullish wing player with a versatile perimeter skill set while Waller is an energizer bunny. The addition of 6’7″ 2020 transfer Lamontay Daugherty makes the Panthers a team to watch next season. He is a skilled combo forward with athleticism and the ability to create buckets from 15 feet in.
Warrensburg: The Tigers have a solid group of seniors back from a team that won 17 games last season. They have a nice backcourt in 6’0″ Luke Mackey and 6’1″ Peyton Long. Mackey is a good facilitator who can get in the lane and make plays while Long is an excellent 3-point shooter. 6’4″ 2019 forward Luke Landwehr is a solid performer who can rebound and make a 3-point shot while 6’5″ 2019 Zach Reed is a mobile post player.
Monroe City: The Panthers are coming off back to back Class 3 district championships. They have a good chance for a third with the return of 6’3″ 2019 guard CE Talton, who performed well all weekend against the big school competition at SWIC. Guards Zach Osborn and Bryce Stands are very solid while 6’3″ 2019 forward Kaelin Kendrick is a high-energy player who did a lot of the little things well.
Kirkwood: The Pioneers were missing some key components over the weekend with other sports, but they did have 5’10” 2019 point guard Damien Loyd, who is one of the top returning players in the St. Louis area at his position.
