Stock Risers: A look at 2020s who have raised their profile
Several players have raised their stock this offseason during the grassroots season and will likely shoot up the rankings when the latest list is soon released.
Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at several players in the 2020 class who have raised their profile in recent weeks.
Steele Chapman, 6’0, G, Campus, Pray N Play
Chapman is an athletic guard who can create on the fly. He’s a fine ball handler who can blow by defenders and slip to the hole. He has a great crossover which allows him to find space before he gets his shot off. Chapman is also active on defense in full court settings. He stays after the ball and keeps tight pressure on the ball.
Gavyn Elkamil, 6’3, G, Pittsburg, Team Griffin
Elkamil has terrific size and is among the state’s top shooting guard prospects as he is able to create off the bounce, light it up from long distance and has the size and the athleticism to defend opposing wing players. He is running with Team Griffin this season, a squad that features several talented young players.
Micah Jacques, 6’2, G, Wichita SE, Pray N Play
Jaques is a physical player who earns his playing time through his defense and looks after rebounds. He can handle the ball when given the chance and can knock down shots as well. When he has the ball, Jacques can work his way around bigger players and find open paths to the basket.
Jaden McGrath, 5’11, G, Independence, Pray N Play
A strong and physical guard, McGrath likes to shoot off the catch, but can also create his own shot off the dribble and is a capable defender. He can get hot in a hurry and put points on the board quickly from behind the arc.
Jaylin Richardson, 6’1, G, Turner, KC Team Rush
A physical player who handles pressure under the basket well. Richardson can run the floor like a guard and finish around the basket like a power forward. He’s incredibly athletic with a powerful frame. He can push his way to the basket and slip through defensive schemes on the fly. Richardson is a two-year starter at Turner and has already put up a big stat line at the varsity level.
