Small College Prospects: 2019 Wings
The class of 2019 is gearing up for their last 3 live periods of AAU and heading towards their senior season. While the 2019 class is full of D1 players at the top of the class, there is a good group of small college prospects in the class as well. Here’s a look at some of the best small college prospects in the 2019 group of wings.
Taquan Hollowell, University Heights – Hollowell is an athletic wing who has made tremendous strides as a shooter over the course of his career. Taquan still needs to keep improving his handle but will be a very good player at the D2 or NAIA level.
Carson Guthrie, Mayfield (Pocket City) – Guthrie has all the physical tools to be a low Division 1 player but his motor doesn’t run all the time. Carson and his twin brother Connor are both going to be good college players at whichever level they end up at.
Jamil Hardaway, Trinity (The Ville) – Hardaway does all the little things to win games but doesn’t do any one particular thing extremely well. Jamil has great size and length on the wing and is going to be a steal for whatever college he ends up at.
Tyler Fleek, Covington Catholic (NKY Squad) – Fleek has great size and skill as a 3 or stretch 4 and is very fundamentally sound. His lack of top tier athleticism is probably going to keep him from reaching the D1 level but he can be a really good D2 player in the mold of a Ben Weyer.
Trey Meister, Scott (Ohio Ballstars) – Meister has a wide range of college interest from all over the country. Trey was Scott’s top scorer and rebounder last season and expects to improve on those numbers as a senior.
Rich Ninamou, Seneca (Hoop Dreams) – Ninamou has one of the best motors I’ve seen and has a passion for defense. What he does not have is a consistent offensive game. Rich is built like a power 5 wide receiver and has the athleticism to match. Ninamou could be a lockdown defender at the next level.
Tahj Harding, Newport (Kentucky Royals) – Harding is another kid who plays with a tremendous motor but he’s hindered by playing out of position at Newport. Harding has shown some improved handling and shooting that can propel him to the small D1 level but he likely will find a home at the D2 or lower level.
