Rib City Shootout: (Class of 2019 Standouts)
Prep Hoops Missouri spent Friday afternoon at the Rib City Shootout in Dexter, Mo. Here is a look at some of the top Class of 2019 standouts from the event:
Trey Jenkins 6’7″ Sikeston: An athletic post player whose game continues to evolve with each year. He has always been a dynamic shot blocker from the beginning, but his offensive game as gradually improved as he can score in the paint and finish with dunks in traffic. He has now added a 3-point stroke to his repertoire. He knocked down several 3-pointers off the pick and pop during the day. He already has one Division I offer from Louisiana-Monroe. He could add to that with a strong July.
Kevin Jones 5’11 Sikeston: He’s pound for pound one of the toughest kids around. He brings a Russell Westbrook mentality to every possession of every game he plays. On defense, he fuels Sikeston’s pressure defense with his non-stop motor on the ball. On offense, he is always looking to attack the basket and put pressure on the defense, plus he has a decent stroke from 3-point range. He has really built up his body over the course of his career. Strong and physical.
Ayden Stone 6’5″ Thayer: A tough small-school post player who has the ability to dominate around the basket. He plays with a high motor and he combines that with good skills in the low post. He is an excellent finisher in the paint as well as a very productive rebounder. He is also starting to expand his game a little as he knocked down some high-post jumpers off the catch. He was also handling the ball a little more.
Trent Lippoldt 6’6″ Doniphan: A solid post player who displayed some versatility in the games that I watched. He brought the ball up at times and made some good decisions with it in terms of his ability to pass the ball and set up teammates for buckets. He has good length and uses it to block his share of shots around the basket.
Parker Long 6’2″ Sikeston: One half of a talented duo of twin brothers. He is the right-handed twin. He is a good ball handler who is always looking to push the pace. He has the ability to create his own shot and can knock down his line-drive jumper. He is also an excellent passer off the dribble. He is also a battler who does not give an inch to his opponent.
Owen Long 6’2″ Sikeston: The other half of the twin backcourt, Owen is the left-handed brother. He is also a talented shooter who can knock down 3-pointers off the catch. He is also a solid ball handler who brings a level of toughness and feistiness to the court that I like.
Latrell Porter 6’2″ Charleston: A long athletic combo guard who fulfills many duties for the Blue Jays. He is an excellent all-around defender who can get after players at different positions. He can play some point guard and get his teammates involved in the offense. He is a good offensive player off the bounce and he is a solid rebounder from the guard position.
