Recruiting Report: Woody Newton (2020)
Woody Newton is beginning to see his recruitment expand. The class of 2020 prospect, who picked up an offer from Virginia Tech last month, stood out in his Capitol Hoops Summer League debut. Newton discussed his recruitment and more in a recent interview with Prep Hoops.
PH: Which schools are standing out right now in your recruitment?
WN: “The schools that are standing out right now are Maryland, Xavier, and I got a recent offer from Virginia Tech. I’m going down there to visit later this month. I really like the coaching staff down there. Schools that are showing interest so far this spring are UCONN, Oregon, and Marquette.”
PH: What do you think is the most improved aspect of your game in the lat 6 months?
WN: “I feel like I’ve picked up my guard play. I feel like I get my teammates more involved than I have in previous years. I’ve tried to show that I’m an all-around player. Getting assists. Scoring. Rebounding. Everything.”
PH: How are your grades?
WN: “I maintain a 3.0 GPA.”
PH: What do you think you need to work on?
WN: “I want to knock down my shots more consistently.”
PH: What are your goals for the summer?
WN: “This summer I want to win a championship whatever circuit I’m on.”
