Recruiting Report: Tyler Kemp (2019)
New Prague was one of the best defensive teams in the state of Minnesota in 2017-18 allowing the Trojans to play above expectations. Guard Tyler Kemp was the team’s leading scorer and top player overall.
“For my senior we have four players with experience coming back but we have a lot of talent in my class,” Kemp said. “Our expectations are to have a good year.”
With Kemp at 6-foot-4, Hunter Nielson at 6-foot-6, and Nathan Brusseau at 6-foot-10 being three returning starters the Trojans won’t just be big, they will be talented and experienced. Add in Parker Johnson and the future has potential, especially with Kemp being not just a leader, but a hard worker as well.
“I would like to improve on my ability to defend faster guards and bigger post players and be able to stand my ground,” Tyler said.
Kemp is playing with WOTN who is the fifth ranked 17u team in the state right now.
“Some of my top moments this year were beating the top OSA team after losing to them earlier. And beating the Fury earlier in the season,” Kemp said. “As an AAU program we are looking to compete with every team we play and sticking to our principles.”
Kemp has scholarship offers at the D2 offer from Minnesota State-Moorhead and Minnesota-Crookston. They are two of the schools in consistent contact.
“I have been in contact with Saint John’s, UMD, Southwest Minnesota, Minnesota-Crookston, Minnesota State-Moorhead, Hamline, and Jamestown,” Tyler said. “I plan on going to a couple elite camps this summer and have no visits anytime soon that I know of at the moment.”
