Recruiting Report: O’mar Stanley (2020)
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Blue Valley West forward O’mar Stanley has seen his game grow over the past year into one of the state’s top prospects.
Blessed with a unique combination of size at 6’8 and skill, Stanley is a versatile player able of handling the ball, shooting from the perimeter or doing work in the paint. He has a big motor, runs the floor exceptionally well and brings intensity to the floor.
He is hoping a strong summer with Blue Valley West will carry over to the high school season and help erase what was a tough 2017-18 season that saw the Jaguars go 6-12 overall. After transferring over from Hogan Prep where he played as a freshman, Stanley averaged 12 points, eight rebounds and a block per game.
“It didn’t go so good as far as record wide but as building culture it went great, Stanley said. “I was the go to scorer for the first time so it was really different i had to adjust to that.”
Stanley has spent the offseason competing for the MoKan Elite 16U squad. It is the second straight offseason he has competed for MoKan.
“This year has been different a lot of ball movement and a lot of running and i love it,” he says. “I hope to take out how it will feel to play against bigger and equally sized kids in college and i love how MoKan is preparing us to play in college.”
