Recruiting Report: Noah Chamberlain (2019)
Six-foot-6 Noah Chamberlain of St. Thomas Academy is a wing with size that has grabbed the attention of several colleges during his 17u season. A stock raiser? Yes Minnesota, Noah was a big spring stock raiser.
Noah’s junior year was solid. He helped the Cadets get to the state tournament after fighting their way through a tough non-conference schedule.
Chamberlain was the fifth leading scorer (6.1pg) for the Cadet, fifth on the glass (3.1), third in assists, and second in blocks. He returns with other key members of the team as STA works to get back to state for the third straight season.
“Next year we will have three returning varsity players,” Noah said. “Me, Jack Thompson, and Tony Wright were all named captains.
“Although we may lack experience next year in terms of returning players we will have a strong number of incoming seniors who will step up into varsity roles so we can hopefully fulfill expectations of winning our section and making it to state for third year in a row.”
Minnesota Heat MacDonald is 18-13 on the season after a couple losses at the NHR State Tournament. Noah is a key part of Heat MacDonald who has some wins over some of the better teams in the state.
The year has been up and down at times for the Heat but overall the experience has been good.
“Some of our teams top moments came in Omaha when we made it to the championship game of the Midwest Live Tournament and in the Sanford Pentagon league where we placed fourth,” Noah said.
“We started off very strong and now are going into a long break until the GPA event in St. Cloud. Our main goal is to consistently win games playing team basketball and make runs in tournaments so we can get the visibility from colleges we all want.”
Colleges! Good topic. Noah just seems to be reaching a bit of his skilled potential at 6-foot-6 playing in the backcourt but his skills in this big frame are a rare thing.
“Some schools that have contacted me or my coaches are St. Cloud State, Southwest Minnesota State, Minnesota State Mankato, Sioux Falls, Augustana, Minnesota-Crookston, and Jamestown,” Noah said.
“I haven’t really made a schedule for what camps I’m going to yet but St. Cloud State, SMSU and Sioux falls are all ones I plan on going to.”
Noah knows he still has work to do to reach his potential as a layer.
“I would like to improve as a leader on and off the court because that is something our team is going to need in order to fulfill expectations of making another state run, and being a consistently good team throughout the season.” Chamberlain stated.
“Also, putting on weight and getting stronger is also a big focus too for this summer.”
