Recruiting Report: Landon Wolfe (2019)
Class of 2019 Landon Wolfe is a 6’4” small forward from Effingham that can flat out get buckets! He has a tremendous knack for scoring. Sound perimeter shooter with a clean release. His pull up and three off the catch are on point with his feathery touch. Crafty driver that knows how to use angles and uses his strength to finish inside. There is going to be concerns about his ability to defend on the perimeter at the next level. Low-majors and D2s need to track him in July with the Illinois Irish.
How has the spring gone with his new travel team?
“The spring with the Irish we have been playing pretty good and had a good record. We had our ups and downs. I feel like I have been solid. I feel I could have been better. Still trying to fit in with a new team. I think now that I am comfortable I will be more consistent.”
He discussed playing on the NY2LA circuit.
“It is definitely different. The game is a lot more structured that any circuit I have played on. Everyone is coached really well. The best athletes know how to play the game the right way.”
Where has he been focusing on improving his game?
“I have tried to work on my defense, handling the ball, and continuing what I am doing. Really focus on playing both ends.”
Wolfe updated his recruitment.
“I have got texts and calls from Penn, Furman, Southern Indiana, and Quincy. Lehigh and Brown have asked for my transcripts. I visited Illinois Wesleyan where my brother plays. Also Sioux Falls is interested.”
Illinois Wesleyan there is a family connection. He took a recent trip there.
“It went well. I am really familiar with them with my brother Grant there. They told me they are going to recruit me as my own player. They said they really want me. They said they aren’t evaluating me, but are just recruiting me now.”
Southern Indiana is a D2 that is showing significant interest.
“I really like Southern Indiana and we will be going there for team camp. It is kind of like a visit. I took a visit there during the school season. They have a really good tradition and atmosphere. They are building a new arena which is nice. Their coaching staff is cool. I got to go in the locker room before and after the game. Basically it is a D1 school playing D2. It is really appealing with the location and everything.”
