Recruiting Report: Jonathan Stimmler (2019)
Six-foot-7 big Jonathan Stimmler led Princeton to a 20 win season while putting up a team high 17 points a game. The Tigers have big expectations for this coming winter.
“We will have four returning starters and will have some defensive and offensive threats to fill the open spot,” Stimmler said. “High expectations for this season, always want to improve so my goal for our team is to have 25 wins and get a section title. As a team we need to have a defensive attitude and let defense turn to offense.”
Those starters are Calvin Peterson, Adam Williams, and James Flicek. Stimmler and Flicek are competing together on the Comets DLR team that has already played 26 games.
“Some top moments of the 17u season would be to see our team come together and turn the corner from being a good squad to a great squad,” Stimmler said. “Also to see us move the ball and play team defense.”
Comets DLR is under .500 but they have played a schedule that includes the NY2LA League which has resulted in some Ls but great experiences against strong players.
“We hope to make a run in the NY2LA tournament and to win a tournament is another big goal. Some small goals would be to always have defensive intensity and continue to move the ball and play as a team.”
Stimmler is not only playing with Comets DLR but also working every day to be a different, in a good way, player as an experienced senior.
“My personal goals are to get more athletic so I can improve my off and on ball defense.” Jon said.
“I also would like to gain confidence on my catch and shoot from mid range. Also would like to get more complex post moves and include face up moves in my game.”
The plan is in place for Stimmler’s senior year, and likely beyond. A quality group of schools is in contact with Jon.
“Schools that have been in contact would be St. John’s, Jamestown, Concordia-Moorhead, Augustana, St. Thomas, and Minnesota State-Mankato,” he said.
“I plan to go visit St. Johns and I have been to Jamestown and Mankato. I also plan to go to the Augustana camp and possibly a couple others once I know my schedule for sure.”
