Recruiting Report: Jett Sternberger (2019)
Recruiting Report: Jett Sternberger (2019)
There are very few times an athlete has the opportunity to play two different sports in college. Kingfisher’s Jett Sternberger will have the chance to be a rare breed. On the gridiron, Sternberger is the Quarterback leading his team to victory with great passing coordinating the entire offense. On the hardwood, Sternberger plays the Point Guard spot doing similar things getting his team prepared and in the best spots for success.
The shooting stroke of Sternberger is up with the best in Oklahoma regardless of class. In my opinion, he is the best shooter in the state, period. Sternberger has big goals for his Summer with Game Changer Hoops.
“My goal for the summer is to become more of a complete scorer,” said Sternberger. “Not to be known as just a shooter. I am working on my mid-range and finishing.”
The biggest area Sternberger is working to improve is creating his own shot off the dribble. The shooting talents for Sternberger mixed with his high basketball IQ is lethal. The intangible that will jump out to college coaches is the fire and competitive nature of Sternberger. He does not just want to win, Sternberger is a killer looking to dominate in every facet on the court.
Sternberger is hearing from a lot of NCAA Division II programs in basketball. ECU SNU, Harding, UCO, UT Tyler, Emporia State, Oklahoma Christian, and SWOSU have all reached out to him. Oklahoma Christian, Southeastern, and SWOSU have already offered.
The football offers are stacking up for Sternberger as well. Early offers from NEO, SWOSU, East Central, and NWOSU with NCAA Division I interest will leave Sternberger with a tough choice.
Everything we are hearing leads us to believe Sternberger will play basketball in college, but if NCAA Division I football programs get involved it will be tough to turn down. One thing is for sure the Sternberger family is one of the most talented in Oklahoma and Jett is in a great place to have many options in both sports.
