Recruiting Report: Greg Outlaw (2019)
Class of 2019 small forward Greg Outlaw is a 6’4” wing from Bogan that has had a strong spring making a name for himself with Chicago Select. He is a big and powerful small forward that has off the charts athleticism. The jump shot from three definitely needs some work, but there are a lot of things to like about him. First is how hard he plays and the intensity he brings on both ends. Attacks with straight line drives including a baseline one that he hammered home with force. Outlaw gets after it on defense getting steals and bringing intensity to that end of the floor. He is one to continue to monitor the remainder of the summer. Outlaw is a no brainer D2 player that if the jumper becomes a weapon in July could become a name to watch by low-majors.
Outlaw broke down his junior campaign for the Bengals.
“We did pretty good this season. We fell short against Morgan Park in the sectional finals to go down state. We had a great group of guys that play hard. Our brand is defense. I think I played alright. I really want to have a breakout year as a senior.”
He has started to breakout this spring with Chicago Select on the travel team circuit.
“I think it has gone really well. I have gotten a lot of interest letters and coaches are calling me since I have been playing this spring.”
What are the strengths of his game?
“Getting to the basket. I am very explosive. I can knock down the mid-range. I am working on my outside shot, but I am pretty good scoring inside.”
He recently landed his first offer.
“I have an offer from UIC. It was a real surprise to me. It was my first offer. I feel like more of them will come.”
Dee Brown is his lead recruiter for UIC.
“He is a really poised guy. He has been everywhere. He played overseas. I feel I can learn a lot from him.”
