Recruiting Report: Gilbert Otoo (2019)
Gilbert Otoo, a class of 2019 forward at St. Vincent Pallotti, has been one of the more productive players so far at the Capitol Hoops Summer League. The 6-foot-5 wing, who is very versatile, looks set to embrace his leadership role throughout his final high school season. Otoo discussed that and much more in a recent interview with Prep Hoops.
PH: Which schools are recruiting you the hardest right now?
GO: “The hardest right now are Princeton, Holy Cross, Columbia (offer), and Army West Point.”
PH: How are your grades?
GO: “Right now I have a 4.4 GPA. I just took the SAT, and I’ll be getting those results soon.”
PH: What do you think is the most improved part of your game in recent months?
GO: “The most improved part of my game is being able to dribble and defend out on the wing. I’m also rebounding more and finishing around the basket a lot better than last year.”
PH: What’s underrated about your game?
GO: “My defense. I get those easy steals. I get the 50/50 balls. Rebounds are also an underrated part of my game. And my mid range jumper. A lot of people sleep on the mid range, but I think I got that.”
PH: What’s your role going to be this year?
GO: “This year my role is to be a leader. Also to be productive on both ends of the court.”
PH: What are you working on right now?
GO: “Right now I’m working on my three-point jumper. My quickness, strength, and handles.”
PH: What do you hope to accomplish at summer league?
GO: “This summer league I would like to make first or second team. Also putting up numbers for my team and getting to the championship for my guys.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
GO: “Intensity. I think I can bring a lot of intensity, versatility on defense, and a nice mid range jumper.”
