Recruiting Report: Dane Zimmer (2019)
Hopkins power forward Dane Zimmer will be in St. Cloud the next three days with the Minnesota Fury working towards wins and opportunity. Dane has proved to be one of Minnesota’s smartest and more talented 2019 bigs.
The Royals had three bigs they could count on last year: top 50 ranked Zeke Nnaji, Wisconsin bound Joseph Hedstrom, and Dane Zimmer. Dane didn’t list many programs showing interest but trust us, at the moment several are including a few at the D1 level that plan to see him this July. Dane has a visit upcoming to a local NSIC program.
“I’ve been in contact with St. Thomas, St. Cloud, and a few others,” Dane said. “I am planning on taking a visit to St. Cloud State coming soon.”
Today Ben’s Minnesota Fury squad kicks off action in the GPA against Wisconsin Playground Warriors, a Under Armour sponsored club. It will be the latest in tough challenges for the Fury who are 28-5.
“The best part of this season has been winning the Pentagon league, and playing well as a team,” Zimmer said. “We just want to win as much as we can and we always give the most effort.”
Dane has the same plans for the Hopkins Royals coming up this winter. The Royals of course have the talent to make a run at state, like they usually do.
“We have a very solid group of guys coming back from next year and expect to have a really good season,” Zimmer said.
Dane averaged about ten points a game last year on a talented team and was one of the top rebounders. He wants to get more comfortable attacking opponents this year.
“I’m working on being more comfortable with the ball in my hands,” Zimmer said.
