Recruiting Report: Antonio Gordon (2019)
This Spring Lawton Ike Forward Antonio Gordon received a call from MOKAN to play in the Nike EYBL. He accepted the opportunity making his debut in the third session in Atlanta. The first session was eye-opening for Gordon seeing the highest level of grassroots basketball up close. By the time Gordon made it to Virginia for the fourth session he found his grove. During the fourth session, the 6’8 Forward averaged 9 points and 3 rebounds per game.
“The Eybl has been great,” said Gordon. “I am starting to play more this past weekend and we went 4-0 won the division and qualified for Peach Jam.”
Gordon stepped up in the fourth session adding to MOKAN Elite’s power punch. The first live period could be the tournament the recruitment of Gordon takes off. He will have the opportunity with MOKAN to play in the best grassroots tournament in the country, the Nike Peach Jam.
“This month I plan on taking some unofficial visits to Kansas State, Tulsa, and Texas state,” said Gordon. “I have recently heard from Mercer and Northern Colorado in addition to the schools that I had before.”
Gordon has huge goals for July not just with his recruitment, but with his team.
“My goals for this July are to win Peach Jam and become the best player I can be by playing the top talent on the EYBL. The biggest thing I’m working on right now is my versatility. I want to be able to handle the ball and push the ball after getting a rebound. I also want to put on muscle in my upper body.”
He already holds his first NCAA Division I offer from Abilene Christian with more on the way. Gordon is a player that is far from hitting his ceiling. He has improved immensely over the past year and appears to be on track for another record improvement heading into his senior season at Lawton Ike.
