Recruiting Report: Alfred Alkannama (2019)
NAIA Division II programs will want to get to know Oklahoma Servants standout, Alfred Alkannama. Over his high school career, Alkannama has shown his ability to create at the Point Guard spot at a high level. He is masterful with the basketball in his hands. The high basketball IQ mixed with extreme quickness make Alkannama tough to stop. When opponents close off the drive of Alkannama he finds an open teammate for a great look. If they chose to not close off the lane, Alkannama makes the defense pay with his finishing package around the hoop. Alkannama has high goals for this Summer.
“My goals for this Summer are to improve my all around game,” said Alkannama. “I am working on becoming more of a vocal leader. Also, I want to get in touch with college coaches.”
The greatest strength of Alkannama is his playmaking ability not just on offense, but defensively as well. The quickness of Alkannama translates to steals and easy transition buckets. He is a constant defensive pest creating pressure on the ball handler. The great activity on Alkannama on defense is what first caught my attention two years ago watching him for the first time. The defense has always been there and over the past two years, he has become a scoring threat offensively.
Alkannama has not heard from many schools at this point. He is excited about the opportunity to shine in front of college coaches this July. Personally, I think Alkannama will fit in perfect at the NAIA Divison II level in the KCAC or a similar conference. Playing early and playing fast are two important things to Alkannama.
“The things I’m looking for in a school is if they play the way I like to play,” said Alkannama. “I love to play fast. Another thing is if I’ll be able to have a chance to play right away.”
