Recap: Wisconsin Advanced Camp
MADISON — Prospects from all over the Midwest attended Wisconsin’s advanced camp on Friday. Who stood out in front of the UW coaching staff as well as a number of other collegiate staffs in attendance?
Lorne Bowman – 2020 – PG – St. Mary’s Prep (MI)
A potential sleeper in the 2020 class, Bowman looks like a solid point guard prospect who’s a borderline high major player. A strong floor general that can shoot it from deep, Bowman has terrific feel for the game. Bowman likes to get others involved, but when it’s his time to take over, asserts himself offensively. His strong frame helps him a lot at the rim. Bowman can deliver shots to defenders and clear his way to the rim by bullying people on the drive. Bowman has an offer from Buffalo. There’s a good amount of mid and high major interest coming his way going into July.
Noah Carter – 2019 – PF – Dubuque Senior (IA)
It’s good to see some Division 1 schools took a chance on Carter. He’s undersized as a power forward, but just always seems to produce in a big way. That was the case again in Madison. Carter was a force down low. Known for some eye-popping athleticism, Carter has improved his versatility, skill set, and range. He was every effective from the outside, taking bigs off the dribble, and displaying a nice spin move into a jump hook on the block.
Brayden Dailey – 2020 – F – Mineral Point
Dailey was up against it, playing against some stacked teams. He was still able to do some nice things. Dailey just has a knack for scoring. It doesn’t matter where he is on the floor, Dailey is a threat to score. A smooth shooter, Dailey was knocking down triples and mid-range jumpers at a high rate. Dailey is raw physically and needs to pack on the pounds before he’s a true three level scorer, but it’s been nothing short of impressive how Dailey can put the ball in the hole at a high rate practically every time he steps on the floor.
Raymond Dennis – 2019 – PG – Oswego East (IL)
Dennis has been racking up mid-major offers and for good reason. The speedy, skilled lead guard is an exciting offensive talent with a lot of shake. 1-on-1, Dennis is very difficult to defender with his make-you-miss ball handling ability. The 6-foot-2 senior is very smooth with the basketball and can blow by people, even in the half court. While he shines with his scoring at the rim, Dennis is an underrated shooter and facilitator. In fact, Dennis was on fire for most of the day from downtown. He was excellent in the pick n’ roll on Friday, reading defenses and making them pay for any lapses in coverage.

James Graham – 2021 – SF – University School
Graham showed off his shot making ability on Friday. The 6-foot-6 small forward has great length and touch on the basketball. He’s very difficult to get off rhythm and Graham and rise and fire off the bounce over defenders and is rarely fazed by a good contest — even under duress. Graham showed some flashes in the spring and has an advanced mid-range game for his age. Lateral quickness, strength, and motor will be areas Graham needs to address in the future, but he’s got the makings of a Division 1 caliber prospect.
Jeremiah Hernandez – 2019 – SF – St. Viator (IL)
A high-upside wing, Hernandez popped with his above the rim ability. The 6-foot-5 senior had some impressive rips from the wing that turned into dunks before the defense could react. An exciting athlete, Hernandez is getting better as a ball handler and shooter. He was able to handle some of the point duties and looked comfortable shooting off the dribble or catching and shooting from 12-15 feet. Racking up mid-major offers, Hernandez has some of the best upside coaches will find at that level.

Isaac Lindsey – 2020 – SG – Mineral Point
Lindsey is showing signs of being a power-five talent. The last two weekends, he’s been sensational as a sniper, particularly hitting shots down the stretches of games. Lindsey has terrific feet and agility away from the ball. He knows how to set up defenders and get them leaning one way before he comes back the other and around a screen. Once Lindsey catches, his shot is long gone before defenders can contest. Also improving on the ball, Lindsey had some impressive finishes in traffic and jumpers off the dribble without his momentum going to the basket. Lindsey will rack up the mid-major offers, but Wake Forest, Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin are lurking and DePaul has offered. If he continues to shoot the ball the way he did in June, power-five programs may have a hard time passing on him.
Matthew Mors – 2021 – F – Yankton (SD)
Mors was arguably the top performer at Wisconsin’s advanced camp. Already 6-foot-7, 220-pounds, Mors looks like a high school senior. He’s got nearly the experience, having played three years on the varsity level. Mors was flat out dominant on Friday. An aggressive forward with a scorer’s mentality, Mors was raining in shots from all over the floor. He’s unique as a forward who can catch and shoot on the go, pull-up off the dribble, and even knock down step back jumpers. A blue collar prospect, Mors also thrives as a guy who can do the dirty work. He cleaned up the glass on both ends and protected the rim at a high level.
Carlos Ramsey – 2019 – SG – Milwaukee Destiny
Continuing to be a scoring machine, Ramsey had it going in Madison. A smooth and strong wing, Ramsey was knocking down shots and getting the rim at will. A high volume scorer, Ramsey has a quick, effortless stroke and is very efficient from mid-range. Ramsey also has a really good frame, which he uses to get into defenders and take away their shot blocking ability. A Division 1 talent, Ramsey has done big things since the spring and continues to stand out against some of the best players in the Midwest.

Sam Schultz – 2020 – F – Oswego East (IL)
Schultz is a slithery forward that can get to the rack. Perhaps being under-recruited right now, Schultz looks like a solid Division 2, maybe mid-major Division 1 prospect. A versatile, 6-foot-6 forward, Schultz creates matchup problems with his ability to handle the ball on the perimeter. He can shoot it a bit from mid-range and occasionally step out from beyond the arc. Schultz needs work on his body, explosiveness, and defensive impact, but he’s got some solid upside and intriguing offensive tools.
Abe Scruggs – 2020 – PG – Dominican
A solid lead guard, Scruggs didn’t try and do too much on Friday and just played within himself. More of a spot-up 3-point shooter and transition threat, Scruggs is getting better as an isolation scorer. When given space, he can make a move to the basket and or gain separation off the bounce and drill tough 3-pointers. Scruggs had some impressive finishes around the basket, double-clutching and going reverse in traffic that drew some buzz some the stands.
Karter Thomas – 2020 – PG – Oshkosh West
Thomas continues to shoot the ball at a very high level. He’s been in a ridiculous zone throughout the month of June. Thomas just fed off the talent around him all day and was a big part of his team winning the title with a perfect 4-0 record. We’ll be eager to see if he can replicate these shooting efforts once the travel season kicks back up.
Donovan Williams – 2020 – W/G – North Star (NE)
Unfortunately for Williams, he seemed to cramp up and was unable to finish out the day. Prior that, the Nebraska native had really started to shoot the ball well. Williams has really good size (6-5) and strength. He’s a 3-and-D player who can knock down shots at a high rate and slow down the other team’s top scorer.
