Prospect Update: Mason Falslev (2020)
Exum Elite is one of the best grassroots programs in the West, and Mason Falslev is enjoying the ride with the adidas Gauntlet program.
The 6-foot-3 combo-guard will be heading with his Exum teammates to New York City next month for the adidas Gauntlet Finale, it’s something he’s greatly looking forward to.
And he could see his exposure and recruitment spike during that tourney — a live period event.
“I love playing with those guys, most of us have been playing together for three years. And I’m excited for this summer, we should see where we stand against other teams,” said the Sky View rising junior.
A slasher with an ability to distribute as good as most anyone in the state. Falslev says he’s been working lately to improve his jumper, and that will bring his game together nicely.
“I’m more of a driver and finisher, but I can shoot, too. I just prefer driving and dishing and trying to make everyone better out the court,” he said.
“This summer, I’ve been working on my left hand and finishing with it, and I’m really hoping to take my game to the next level with my jumper.”
As a sophomore with the Cats, Falsev pieced together a fantastic season, and established himself as one of the state’s brightest young talents.
“My main role was to score, we had scorers, but coach counted on me to score most. And then getting assists and rebounds,” he said.
“I’m going to try and average more points next season, and I’m going to try and average a double-double every game with assists or rebounds, either one.”
Falslev has already been generating some serious Division I interest. He has an offer from BYU, that came in last fall before his sophomore season. He had an offer from Utah State, but then the coach was let go, resulting in some uncertainty surrounding that offer. He’s hoping to be re-offered by them soon.
And there’s another in-state school he holding out for.
“I’m hoping to get a Utah offer, but we’ll see. I have to show them that I deserve it,” Falslev said. “I’ve gone to some of their camps, and I’m pretty good friends with their coaches.”
