Prospect Spotlight: Miles Gally (2019)
Miles Gally, a class of 2019 power forward at Richard Montgomery, is performing well at the Capitol Hoops Summer League. The 6-foot-9 forward, who has worked hard on his overall game this spring with District Basketball Club, recently spoke with Prep Hoops about his current recruitment among other topics.
PH: I liked how vocal you were today. That was the first thing that stood out about your game. What inspired you to be such a vocal player?
MG: The District. Coach Devin (Williams). He’s always on us about that. As you see I really lost my voice a little bit from the past weekend. Talking so much.
PH: You made a couple of jumpers that I saw. A 15-footer, a three from the top of the key. Would you say that’s something you do well?
MG: Yeah. I would say that the strength of my game is shooting.
PH: I saw you posted up a couple of times. Demanded the ball quite loudly and consistently. Is that another thing that Coach Devin has tried to instill in you?
Yeah. He wants me to be more of a scoring big this year. Last year I kind of just played defense and rebounded.
PH: What do you think is the most underrated part about your game right now?
I think my rebounding. It’s definitely improved, but I think I’m at a good level now.
PH: How are your grades?
My grades are good. I have a 3.2.
PH: What are you working on now?
Mostly my strength and conditioning.
PH: Which schools stand out right now for you in your recruitment?
The first three schools that started recruiting me were Holy Cross, Cornell, and Lafayette. Coach Malcolm from Catholic has also kept in touch.
PH: What are your plans for the next month? Any camps?
Yeah I’m going to about 5 or 6 elite camps. I know I’m going to Lafayette on the 10th.
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
“Scoring, rebounding, shot blocking.”
