Already with one Division I offer in tow, 6-foot-3 shooting guard Julian Vaughns has a big 17U summer ahead, and could see his list of offers swell.
The Notre Dame combo-guard prides himself on having a high hoops IQ, it’s that, among other things, that have college coaches interested.
“What I’m best at is shooting and making the right play. I feel like I have a really high basketball IQ, I get my guys in the right position to score. I just feel like I have a pretty good feel for the game,” said Vaughns.
“What I specialize in is 3-point shooting, and that’s kind of my game. I’m a point guard, slash, shooting guard.”
After transferring from St. Mary’s into Notre Dame, Vaughns had to sit out the first semester of his junior season, which he admitted was tough for him. But when was able to return, it was all worth it. Especially the part where got to play for a legendary coach.
“I tried to make an impact when I first came back. I was super excited to be coached By Don Lippi, he’s a legend and he’s a phenomenal coach, and he lives up to all the hype,” said Vaughns.
“I’m really happy I made the switch, and I feel like senior season is about to be amazing.”
Before his senior season, though, he’s got a big summer ahead. Vaughns played with Team Lillard for part of his spring, and has been playing with EBO since. He’ll head with EBO to New York in July for the adidas Gauntlet Finale.
As for his recruitment, San Francisco has offered, and Vaughns said he’s “on the verge” of getting an offer from Montana. Also Lehigh, Cal Poly, St. Mary's, Air Force, Nevada and Princeton have all reached out.
“I hope to get a couple more offers this summer,” Vaughns said.
