Prospect Spotlight: Jordan White (2019)
TOPEKA, Kan. — Coming off a strong junior season at Washburn Rural, 2019 guard Jordan White is taking his game to new heights this offseason playing for KC Run GMC.
White is known for his heart, passion and willingness to do whatever it takes to win, and has the versatility to defend all five positions on the court. A strong 6’1 point guard White can be seen during the high school season guarding opposing point guards or opposing big men. At the offensive end of the floor, he helps set up his teammates for easy shots with his passing and playmaking skills, and also has the ability to knock down 3-pointers or get to the basket.
Washburn Rural narrowly missed out on its goal a year ago of advancing to the state tournament as White’s team lost in the sub-state championship to xx by five points. He was the leading scorer as both a sophomore and junior and was named the team captain.
“My team relies on me a lot for offense but really helped the team as well when used a lot of effort and energy on defensive end,” he says.
White has shined this offseason with KC Run GMC and has presented a challenge as he plays a different role with his summer team than his high school team.
“Practicing against some of the best players in the country and especially this area and learning from the greatest coaching staff you can ask for,” White said. “Now playing with these same guys a third year I love being able to play with them. I have a completely different role with Run GMC than I do with the high school team which I think is very unique being able to play the sport from different views of being the man in high school and than learning to be a role player who focuses on all the little things.”
White says this offseason that he is focused on improving his ability to finish around the basket, especially with his off hand and improving on his speed and quickness.
