A top young prospect with a true point guard’s mentality, 5-foot-11 point guard Broc Bidwell has some bright years ahead of him at West Forsyth. And after a sensational freshman season with the Wolverines, Bidwell has high expectations moving into his sophomore season.
West Forsyth made it to the regional championship last season, Bidwell averaged 11 points, four assists and two steals per game.
“It was a successful season for our team. We had the school record for wins and it was a historic season. It was a great freshman season,” said Bidwell, who explained what it was like starting and starring as a freshman.
“It was a goal of mine and it was something I was proud to accomplish. I ultimately helped the team a great amount, and that’s what I wanted to do.”
For Bidwell, It’s his ability to maintain control while still leading a charge that makes him a dynamic young player.
“I like to control the game, so as a point guard, I like to know what everyone else on the floor is doing and I know their roles,” he said. “I like to keep pace of the game. I like to pass and I can score from all three levels when I need to.”
This spring, he’s been playing with Team Tuff 15U, and it’s been a successful offseason thus far.
“We won both live periods that we played in in April, so things have been going really well. I’m the point guard for that team, so I do a lot of the same things I do for my high school team,” said Bidwell.
“Going into July, I think we’ll be out on the West Coast pretty much the whole time, so that will be fun. We’re looking to do some damage out there, and see how we compare to teams from across the country.”
After the first live period, Bidwell was contacted by Campbell University wanting him to come out and see their campus. Georgia State has reached out, too.
Safe to say, Bidwell is ready for his recruitment to pick up over the next couple years.
“Yes, recruitment is on my mind,” he said.
