Prospect Spotlight: Belo Oranye (2019)
Belo “Bo” Oranye, a class of 2019 forward from Georgetown Prep, is having quite a productive summer. He currently leads the Capitol Hoops Summer League in offensive rebounding, and has put up monster numbers on occasion. Oranye discussed the improvements he’s made to his overall game while also touching on his recruitment in a recent interview with Prep Hoops.
PH: What’s the most improved part of your game since the season ended?
BO: “Confidence, in general. Before the season, I didn’t really get a lot of playing time. I didn’t have a lot of experience. Now I play AAU, and do a lot of other stuff. Confidence is a big part. It gives you momentum. Helps a lot in games.”
PH: What do you think your for this team is?
BO: “Rebounder. A good defensive player. Being aware. Knowing what’s happening on the floor.”
PH: What is an underrated part of your game?
BO: “My ball-handling.”
PH: What is something you need to work on right now?
BO: “I gotta work on offensive transition. Getting a rebound and being able to push it. Sometimes I’m kind of slow to react. I gotta work on that.”
PH: How are your grades right now?
BO: “All A’s. High honors.”
PH: Which schools are recruiting you the hardest?
BO: “I’m getting looks from Trinity College. St. Mary’s. I got calls from NYU and U Chicago.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
BO: “I’m a good player, but I’m also a good teammate. I also bring a lot of energy and activity to the team.”
