This 2019 Gainesville-Eastside guard should be a weapon for the Rams, this coming fall. At the Stampede Shootout with Gainesville Basketball Club AAU, Joshua Taylor proved he can turn into a great threat on offense in multiple ways.
His quickness to the cup is what got my attention, early. Most of defenders didn’t see this coming, but he possesses a quick first step in the midrange area—was really able to beat opponents to the rim and finish with contact.
When it came to the offensive rebounding game, he would not be denied. Taylor is is solid when it comes to boxing-out. Nearly every shot that went up, he made it a point to crash the glass, resulting in some easy put-backs and layups.
His time at the Shootout was up and down—won some, lost some. But Taylor’s demeanor did not allow him to get down on himself. He said he’s pretty good at taking the lessons learned from each game and applying it to the next game. Watching him play, you could see his emotions never get too high or low.
Over the summer, he’s been committed to working on his ball-handling and leaping ability. Coming off an ACL injury, he’s taken every step in the right fashion. By the time October rolls around, he should be a player that the Rams would want to be a main facet to their lineup.
Looking forward to see what Taylor has in store for us in his final year.
