Prospect Introduction: Jayven Millen (2021)
Sarasota Riverview is packed with athletes and one emerging prospect there is Jayven Millen.
The 2021 forward has all the tools to be successful. He’s athletic, long, instinctive and finds good areas on the floor.
Millen, a 6’6″, 163-pounder saw limited minutes as a freshman. He came off the bench during the Lakewood Ranch Summer Shootout on June 2nd and gave his side plenty of energy.
He’s still unsure of himself at times and needs to fully learn the sets that the Rams run, but again the potential is all there.
“My freshman year was a huge learning experience,” Millen told Prep Hoops. “From the older guys, I learned that when you are a freshman it’s tough because it’s so much different from middle school.”
This spring and summer AAU period, Millen has played with Nike Team Florida. This his second year with the program.
No offers or interest have come yet for the rising sophomore.
Millen alluded to his athleticism, jump shot and vision as his biggest strengths. He says his defense needs to improve while also being in the right spot on that side of the ball.
Despite his rawness, just watching Millen in glimpses, you can tell he has all the promise based off his combination of length and pure athleticism. This should be a very fun year for Millen, who is surrounded by talent in 2020 guards Malachi Wideman and Matteo Catena and 2019 guards Terrell Jackson and Tyrus Jackson. Let’s see if he can grow up this season.
