Prospect Intro: Cole Thompson (2021)
Louisville Collegiate is coming off the best season in school history and Cole Thompson played a major role in the team success. As he prepares for a second season as the starting point guard for the Titans, Cole is also hoping to see some recruitment coming his way soon. Thompson describes his game as, “I’m a little undersized pass first PG who is the floor general. My strengths are shooting , passing , and dribbling. I Need to improve my strength and physicality.” Coming back as the starting point guard for a second year, Thompson reflected on his Freshman campaign, “The high school season went pretty well. I started varsity every game but three. I played a lot of minutes throughout the games. I was glad with how I performed , my role wasn’t to be a huge scorer this season so I just made sure I was a leader and contributed in all other categories. We went 23-8 and made it to the Elite Eight in the All “A” State Tournament.”
Cole is having a productive AAU season this spring and summer, “This AAU season I’ve been playing with Starz United and the season has gone pretty good so far playing in some of the bigger tournaments.” While Thompson isn’t yet getting offers and cannot be contacted by coaches for another year, Cole has been invited to some elite camps this summer. Heading into next season, Cole is looking for an increased scoring role at Collegiate, “In AAU, I’ve been more of a scorer and that’s something that I’ll have to do next year for my school team.” Thompson also has plans to make a return trip to Richmond for the All A. “My goals for next school season is to help lead my team to another successful season with a good record and making it back to the All “A” State Tournament.” In order for Collegiate to get back to McBrayer Arena, Cole Thompson is going to need to continue to show growth and leadership as he progresses through his high school and AAU careers.
