NSU Elite Camp Report
Prep Hoops made the trip to Tahlequah for the Northeastern State University Elite Camp. Several players made a name for themselves.
Kai Barr 2019 Post (Pottsboro, Texas)
Barr is a diamond in the ruff in North Texas. Standing around 6’7 with a long and lanky frame Barr did a little bit of everything for his team. He can shoot the ball effectively from three-point and mid-range. The length of Barr helped him to finish in the paint. Defensively, Barr made his presence known by blocking multiple shots each game I saw. Barr has a perfect frame that could fill out and make him a good NCAA Division II four-man.
Jacob Thionnet 2019 Wing (Edmond, Oklahoma)
Thionnet was one of the best Wings at the camp on Saturday. The effortless way he scored the basketball from all three phases of the game was impressive. At 6’6 with a solid handle and nice jumper, Thionnet is tough to handle. He played with a high motor doing everything in his power to make plays on the court. An area that is less glamorous, but will help Thionnet pick up looks is the way he rebounds and defends. The biggest ways he impressed on defense was blocking or adjusting shots and making plays in the passing lanes.
Mason Hart 2019 Wing (Pond Creek, Oklahoma)
Every time you looked up Hart was making a play for his team. The high energy he brought to NSU Elite Camp was impressive. Hart did not have his best day shooting the basketball, however, the ability of Hart to make plays rebounding and defending made him stand out. On offense, he got going by taking the ball strong to the basket. Hart will be able to make an impact at the small college level at 6’5 with his skill set.
Moun’tae Edmundson 2019 Point Guard (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma)
Edmundson is going to be able to help a small college at the next level. Size limits him a little at the Point Guard spot. The heart Edmundson brings to the court is off the charts. He is a leader on the court directing his squad to put them in the best positions for success. He made smart passes getting his teammates great looks at the hoop. The way he can fit the basketball in tight windows adds to his skills at the Point. Scoring came easily to Edmundson from behind the arc. Edmundson is in for a big July to prove to small colleges he can play at their program.
Ryan Lofton 2019 Forward (Broken Arrow, Oklahoma)
Lofton scored the ball well inside. He attacked the basket with confidence off the dribble. As a four-man Lofton provides some versatility. He thrived finding openings in the pick and roll. The best thing Lofton showed at the camp was his rebounding skills. Over the summer Lofton is improving steadily he could rise as high as a NCAA Division II program.
Caison Hartloff 2021 Wing (Claremore, Oklahoma)
Despite being one of the youngest players at the camp Hartloff made his presence known by hitting big shots. He scored the ball very well behind the arc making the most of his opportunities. Hartloff plays with passion and fire something you do not see a ton of on the court nowadays. Small colleges will want to keep tabs on him over his high school career.
Liam Otero 2019 Wing (Santa Fe, New Mexico)
Otero had one of the best jump shots of the entire camp from behind the arc. He is strictly a catch and shoot player on offense at this point. At some point, with improved ball handling skills, Otero could make an impact at an NAIA Division II or D3 program.
