Here is a look at some of the top underclassmen guards from last weekend’s MAC Summer Shootout in Park Hills, MO.

Brock Wakefield 6’2″ South Iron ’21: A long and thin combo guard who knows how to get buckets. Averaged 19 points and made Class 1 All-State as a freshman. He handles the ball well and knows how to maneuver himself to the basket as well as knock down perimeter shots.

Joseph Hardimon 5’11” Poplar Bluff ’21: The younger brother of standout forward Dominique Hardimon, Joseph is a physical point guard who uses his strength to power his way to the basket. He is excellent at playing though contact. He also sits down and plays solid defense.

Trevon Love 5’10” Jennings ’21: A quick young point guard who showed some clutch play early when he scored on a runner in the last seconds to give the Warriors a victory over Farmington in the opening game of the tournament. He has good handles and the ability to create shots getting to the basket.

Jeremiah Walker 5’11” DeSmet ’21: A talented young point guard who took over the starting varsity role as a freshman last season. He is a solid athlete with good quicks and the ability to attack the basket and knock down pull up jumpers on the move.

Thomas Redmond 6’4″ DeSmet ’21: A big combo guard who did an excellent job of making plays for his team off the dribble and off the pass. He uses his size to his advantage when he gets into the lane to finish.

Drenin Dinkins 5’7″ South Iron ’22: A small point guard who plays like a coach’s son with his ability to see the court, handle the ball and knock down perimeter jumpers. He plays with a lot of poise with his good decision making. His float game in the lane was also nice.

D.J. Prater 5’11” South Iron ’22: A very rangy and athletic combo guard who was very active at both ends of the court. He is a very effective slasher who did a great job of getting into the seams of the defense, whether it was for a drive or an offensive rebound.
