OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Hosted by Shawnee Mission East, the annual KaMo Shootout has earned a reputation as one of the midwest’s premier summer events for high school teams.

This event tipped off on Friday and will wrap up on Sunday with championship brackets being played. Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at some of the events top performers throughout the event.

15 — Da’Rius Brewington, 6’5, F, 2019, Belton (Mo.)

Brewington is a transfer from Grandview Christian and had some strong moments shooting the ball for Belton throughout the weekend. Showed the ability to knock down some outside shots and has decent size and length.

33-Kamto Eze, 6’6, F, 2019, Grandview (Mo.)

Eze is an athletic center who can grab a defensive rebound and take it coast-to-coast. He has terrific speed in the paint and the energy to play at a high level throughout the game. Eze can push defenders out of play as he backs his way to the basket and finish above the rim. He’s also good at protecting the rim on defense and causing trouble on the block.

4-Taj Manning, 6’6 F, Grandview (Mo.)

Manning is a skilled forward who can post up and score at the top of the paint. He is quick for his size and has a thin frame and long arms. He is a solid rebounder on both sides of the floor. He follows his shot and can clean up baskets around the rim.

30-Dalen Ridgnal, 6’4, F, Rockhurst (Mo.)

A strong center with a good length and size. Ridgnal lives under the basket. He blocks shots, moves his feet in and out of the paint and is always in front of his man. He’s the go-to player for a trap on the block and can come away with steals when he jumps out of the paint to deflect a pass.

42-AJ White, 6’4, F, 2019, Rockhurst (Mo.)

White is a tenacious player who will not take no for an answer. He fights for everything he can get his hand on and can finish jump hooks and layups while completely surrounded. He just doesn’t quit. He rebounds, defends and can block shots at a high level. White a dominating player who seems to look better the more he plays.
