IAABO Team Camp (Underclassmen)
Here is a look at some of the top underclassmen from the IAABO Team Camp at Francis Howell Central High.
Rashad McDaniels 5’11” Trinity ’20
A physical big-bodied guard who had an excellent all-around performance in a victory over Fort Zumwalt South on Wednesday. He was dropping dimes on the break and in the halfcourt offense while making open 3-pointers. He used his physical strength to buffalo smaller guards to the hoop for buckets. He can also pick your pocket on defense with his quick hands.
Braden Nett 6’3″ Troy ’20
A very athletic wing player who plays hard at both ends of the court. I like how he took up the challenge of guarding the opposing team’s top scorer and he had the size, athleticism and drive to do a very effective job. Offensively, he is a good 3-point shooter who also did a nice job moving without the basketball and cutting hard to the basket.
Ryan Kalkbrenner 6’10” Trinity ’20
The young big is one of the most imposing shot blockers in the class. His size, length and timing make him an excellent rim protector without fouling. On Monday night, he had the most impressive play of the camp when he ripped through on a baseline drive and threw down an impressive one-handed dunk.
Connor Bekebrede 6’6″ Fort Zumwalt South ’21
A young post player who has showed improvement after starting every game as a freshman. His role was more of a rebounder last season with a lot of offensive weapons. At the camp, he displayed some good offensive ability around the basket. He posted up well and scored consistently with some physical moves in traffic.
Anthony Lewis 5’10” St. Dominic ’21
The young guard was one of the most impressive 3-point shooters that I watched at the camp on Wednesday. He made four triples in a victory over Troy. What’s more impressive is that he had just had a cast removed from his hand after being injured. He had a confident stroke, plus he can handle the ball.
