IAABO Team Camp (2019 Standouts)
Here is a look at the top Class of 2019 prospects at this week’s IAABO Team Camp at Francis Howell Central High in St. Charles. Prep Hoops Missouri was at the first day on Monday and part of Day 3 on Wednesday.
EJ Bellinger 6’4″ Fort Zumwalt South
The smooth wing player got buckets with relative ease during the two games on Monday. He was held out of action for Wednesday’s games after hurting his knee on Tuesday. He continued to score at all three levels while displaying some explosive hops in transition. He has a Division I offer from Louisiana-Monroe.
JaRon Thames 6’5″ Trinity
The big wing player has increased his chances of landing a Division I scholarship with his improved 3-point shooting. He is a very skilled player with a nice mid-range game, but he has added a consistent 3-point stroke to his arsenal, which was on display throughout the IAABO Camp. He made four 3s in a three-minute stretch in a victory over Howell Central on Monday.
Jim King 6’6″ Troy
An agile and athletic post player, he is a very active scorer and rebounder around the basket. He displayed some excellent bounce at times when he threw down a couple of nasty tomahawk dunks off straight vertical under the basket. He is gradually moving his game to the perimeter where he has displayed a nice corner 3-pointer.
Tayari Goodwin 5’9″ Parkway North
The veteran point guard played with excellent pace during the game on Monday in which I watched. I was impressed with the speed in which he pushed the ball while staying under control at all times. He distributed the ball well while continuing to shoot the 3-pointer well.
Kalieb Bryant 6’2″ Fort Zumwalt West
An energetic combo guard who plays with a high motor at both ends of the court. When he gets the ball, he is always looking to attack the basket and he did a nice job finishing at the rim, whether it was against a man-to-man or zone defense. He is primed to have a big senior season at West.
Les Robinson 6’6″ Fort Zumwalt West
A big, physical post player who has shown a lot of improvement in the year since I watched him at this same team camp last year. He uses his big body well around the basket and is very active when getting on the boards. He did a good job of keeping the ball up and finishing his shots. A very solid role player.
Josh Willenbrink 6’2″ St. Dominic
A solid wing player who does a lot of good things to help his team win games besides his scoring. I was very impressed with his rebounding from the guard position. He goes and gets the ball off the board, plus he will push it on the break himself. He can also attack the basket well and make open 3-pointers.
