Grassroots Update: Team Fly (Williams)
There was a lot of talent in the Class of 2019 for Team Fly so the decision was made to split into two with Jeff Williams taking on the main coaching duties for the team that’s based out of Salem. Team Fly (Williams) has been competitive this spring and here’s a breakdown of how their roster did.
Isaac Lange (2019 Thurston HS) The hyper-athletic Lange made an impact in April and several Division I schools, notably Oregon State, will be tracking his progress this summer. He was injured and did not participate in The Hoop Memorial Day Classic.
Dylan Sullivan (2019 Walla Walla (WA) HS) Sullivan may be the team’s most highly recruited player according to Williams as a number of schools in the Big Sky have been looking at him. A hard-nosed shooter, Sullivan has good size on the wing and attacks the rim well.
Zach Brown (2019 Springfield HS) Brown has been a contributor in the frontcourt mainly with his ability to get to the ball on the boards and with his shot-blocking skills on defense. He is still working on his face-up jumper out to the three-point line.
Matt Kroner (2019 Chiawana (WA) HS) Kroner is a muscular post who can step out and hit some threes. He’s been tough on the boards with his physicality and he’s also a very vocal leader on the floor and from the sidelines.
Ben Janssan (2018 Centralia (WA) HS) Janssan, an unsigned senior, is an exchange student from Australia. He’s still getting up to speed with the American game but he has shot it well for Team Fly.
Chase McClain (2019 Mountain View HS) McClain has served as a secondary ball-handler to Lange and was the main point guard at The Hoop Memorial Day Classic. He pushes the ball well and uses his athleticism on defense.
Collin Warmouth (2019 Roseburg HS) Warmouth is a tremendous athlete who is long and rangy. Offensively he is diverse as he can score down on the block or step out and hit some outside jumpers. He’s been a jack of all trades for Team Fly.
Treyden Harris (2019 Cascade HS) Harris is a well-built lefty with a soft touch from the outside. He hit several threes at the Memorial Day Classic and also made some nice drives to the basket.
In a late development, Kaleb Anundi (2019 Stayton HS) has informed PrepHoops Oregon that he has joined Team Fly Williams for the rest of the summer. He was previously with Hoop Salem 17U.
