Georgia July Live Period Events
Atlanta, GA – Georgia will be one of the places to be for college coaches come the July live period. The 2018 July live period will be July 11th – 15th, July 18th – 22nd, and July 25th – 29th. The live period is the period that allows college coaches and scouts to come watch prospects or prospects that they have been following throughout their high school season and/or AAU season. The peach state will have a plethora of events college coaches and scouts can attend. Just to name a few, The Battle of Georgia, On the Radar Hoops Events, UAA Invitational, and Nike Peach Jam will all be held in Georgia again this summer. Even though the Battle of Georiga is not considered a live period event, college coaches will still be able to stream the event live from SUV TV.
The Battle of Georgia – Sunday July 8th, 2018 – Lakepoints Sports Facility (Emerson, GA)
The 1st Annual Battle of Georgia will be held this summer for one day only. One day to decide Georgia’s best grassroot team for the 16U and 17U division, shoe program or non shoe program. The field has been set for the 17U division, Atlanta Celtics, Atlanta Xpress, Game Elite Gold, GA Stars 16U, Team Georgia Magic, Team AJ Bouye, Game Elite Black, and Team EAT are expected to participate in the first ever event. Unfortunately, Nike EYBL’s Athlete’s of Tomorrow will not be competing in this event this year. For the 16U division, Atlanta Xpress, ATL Hoops, Infinite Skillz, Hypesouth Hoops, Game Elite Black, and GA Stars 15U, Cherokee Spurs, and Southern Kings are expected to participate in the event. Dan McDonald and his Lakepoint Hoops staff have done a fabulous job making this tournament happen. The tournament will be single elimination and it is win or go home. At the end of the day we will have one team from the 17U and 16U that we can call the best AAU team in the state of Georgia.
Nike Peach Jam – Wednesday July 11th, 2018 – Sunday July 15th, 2018 – Riverview Park Center (Augusta, GA)
If you have yet to attend a Nike Peach Jam event, I do advise for you to attend. Whether you are a college coach, scout, part of the media, or even just a spectator, the Nike Peach Jam tournament is a great event to attend to watch some great hoops. The environment at Peach Jam is fantastic and it is a great basketball atmosphere for four full days straight. The Nike Peach Jam event is technically in North Augusta, SC but it is right on the border line for Georgia. Nike Peach Jam, for those who do not know, is a tournament filled with the Nike EYBL’s 24 best teams. All 24 teams will play a round robin tournament which is split into four different divisions in a three day span (July 11-13th). After the three days, the top two teams from each division will advance to the bracket part of the tournament, which will be held on Saturday July 14th. The last two teams who advance in the bracket play part of the tournament will then play for the EYBL championship (July 15th). This has been a great event for college coaches and scouts. Every year you will spot some of the best coaches on the college basketball level such as Kentucky’s John Calapari, Kansas’s Bill Self, West VA’s Bob Huggins, and more.
UAA Challenge – Wednesday July 11th, 2018 – Sunday July 15th, 2018 – Lakepoint Sports Facility (Emerson, GA)
Around the same time last summer, the UAA hosted their Under Armour Finals at the same Lakepoint Sports Facility. This summer UAA decided to do things just a little different. Instead of having their finals, they will be having a somewhat of their third session here in Atlanta. Under Armour is calling it the UAA Challenge. This event will also be great for college scouts and coaches to attend, especially if they are looking to attend both the Nike Peach Jam as well. Once again the Under Armour Association features some of the top players in the nation. Players such as 2020 guard Jaden Springer, 2020 guard Anthony Edwards, 2019 guard Bryan Antoine, 2019 wing Scottie Lewis, 2020 guard RJ Hampton, 2020 guard Nico Mannion, 2019 shooting guard Josh Green, and more.
Best of the South – Wednesday July 18th – Sunday July 18th 2018 – Lakepoint Sports Facility (Emerson, GA)
The Lakepoint Sports Facility will have their hands full once again this summer during the July live period. The Best of the South event will be their third event for the month of July. The Best of the South tournament has been one of the top July live period tournaments in the southeast for many years now, which is ran by Hoopseen. It will be an incredible event for all shoe teams to attend in which it has had in past summers. Last summers event top game featured the #2 prospect in the class of 2018 in Zion Williamson (Duke) and his Adidas Gauntlet South Carolina Supreme squad up against one of the top 2018 prospects in Emmitt Williams (LSU) and his Nike EYBL Each One Teach One (FL) team. The game had the court filled to capacity and I am very curious on who they can get this summer to match up against one another.
