ECI Team Camp Preview: Group C
Let’s take a look at some of the team from the Pool C group for the ECI Team Camp, a group that features: Kinston, Heritage, Farmville Central, Forrest Hills, West Brunswick, Laney, Northside-Jax, and Jacksonville HS.
Farmville Central HS (Last Season Record 22-4): They surprised many last season when they put together a very impressive record and made a deep run in the playoffs with a young group. Junior Guard Justin Wright and Sophomore Guard Terquavion Smith are two players that colleges have already begun to track and once you watch them you will see why. Look for them to put even bigger numbers this year as they have a full season of being the go to guys on the varsity level under their belt.
Forest Hills HS (Last Season Record 30-2): They took home the state championship for the 2A division last year and although they will lose a few seniors, they return some talent that was productive for them. They key for the squad will be to find a player who can fill the shoes of Jaleel McLaughlin, not only will they miss his scoring numbers but also his leadership.
West Brunswick HS (Last Season Record 12-13): They are still what we would consider a young team as the majority of their contributors this year are underclassman. However we fully expect them to have some nice showings this year with Junior Wing Jadyn Parker game improving in a nice way as well as growth from Sophomore Guard Makoa Surigao who is the facilitator of the team.
Kinston HS: (Last Season Record 21-6): The loss of Damian Dunn to transfer will cause some other player to step up but there is no doubt that Kinston has the firepower to make that happen. Sophomore Wing Dontrez Styles will most likely get more of a green light opportunity as well as Junior Guard Chance Minott who has shown on multiple occasion that he can play at a high level.
Northside-Jax (Last Season Record 29-1): The Monarchs had another successful last season but will to fresh faces this year as they lost 10 players due to graduation. One of the players that will step in and contribute right away is Junior Wing Quincy Martin Jr who at 6’6 is a player that has a chance to be very special. Also Senior Guard Colin Radcliffe will have more of a role and he is already showing this as he has gone for big time numbers in team camp already.
