Carolina Day Open Gym Notes
Carolina Day School in Asheville, North Carolina is under new leadership this season with Glenn Taylor taking over the reigns at the private school nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains. I was at summer practice today and got to see some of the arsenal that will be available this coming fall/winter on the Carolina Day campus.
D’Angelo Elliott-One of the more college ready bodies in the area, Elliott is a physical specimen in the region. Long arms, strong upper body, can defend multiple positions, can get to the rim, has a good basketball IQ and wants to win.
Devin Elliott-I was very impressed with the work that the 6-foot-1 point guard has put in over the past few months. One of the best handles in the area and has improved his athleticism to a high degree. He is now finishing above the rim on most plays and is shooting really strong with a much better looking shot. He is a Division One recruit to make sure you take a look at.
Max Rogers-the Tuscola High School transfer has came in and is competing at a high level and is one of those players that just does a little bit of everything really well. He has a high basketball IQ, has a really good shooting form, can get baskets from anywhere on the floor.
Jax Davis-Along with Rogers, Davis is a 2020 prospect that is going to play at the next level. Right now it is probably along the D2 level but with some more work he could be in the mix of playing even higher. He is skilled, has a good shot, consistently makes a lot of shots, can take defenders off the dribble and has good size.
Lee Langstaff-The 2020 off-guard has improved tremendously over the past year. He is now finishing anything in the lane, above the rim, he is shooting it better and he understands that it is his time to show the coaches and people of WNC that he is here win. He is so much better when he is in attack mode, there are not many people the can stop him. Very athletic and just needs to find a way to stay in the mindset of always attacking, With his size and athletic ability, he is either going to get fouled or make the basket.
