Capitol Hoops Summer League 6/7 Notebook
HYATTSVILLE, MD — Prep Hoops was back in the gym on Thursday at the Capitol Hoops Summer League, where several players stood out. Here we drop our notebook from the day, which includes evaluations on many of the new prospects we saw.
6’1 PG Roman Cannuscio | Blair | Class of 2021
Lefty with consistent three point range. Has a quick release from the catch. Moves well without the ball. Plays the right way. Gets others involved. Delivers timely and accurate passes from a variety of angles. Still needs to work on his ball handling.
6’2 SF Ethan Ellis | Blair | Class of 2019
Strong with with decent athleticism. Good rebounder out of his area. Not a great ball handler or perimeter shooter.
5’10 SG Isaiah Lattimore | Pallotti | Class of 2019
Stocky wing who plays with a high motor. Tenacious on ball defender. Slasher. Can finish in traffic with either hand.
6’5 PF Miles Mallory | Pallotti | Class of 2019
Long lanky forward who rebounds well out of his area. Protects the rim. Runs the floor. Can score with his back to the basket and from 15 feet facing up. Smart defender. Communicates. Moves feet and defends a variety of positions well.
6’2 SF Chris Margarites | Good Counsel | Class of 2019
Knock down three point shooter from the catch. Spaces the floor well, and fills the lanes correctly in transition. Fundamentally sound. Gets back in transition. Will take a charge. Smart defender. Defends without fouling.
6’2 PG Joemel McNair | Pallotti | Class of 2020
Good three point shooter from the catch. Skilled. Crafty finisher. Spaces the floor well. Good passer. Involves teammates.
5’8 PG Stallin Oaks | Pallotti | Class of 2021
Pure point guard who sees the floor and sets the table. Pesky perimeter defender. Has good quickness and speed. Good paint getter. Can finish through contact. Lefty. Stays active. Can knock down the mid range pull-up.
6’5 SF Gilbert Otoo | Pallotti | Class of 2019
Volume shooter. Likes the middle areas of the floor. Can rebound, put it on the floor, and make plays in transition. Still improving as a ball handler and extending his range.
