Capitol Hoops Summer League 6/6 Notebook

HYATTSVILLE, MD — Prep Hoops was back in the gym on Wednesday at the Capitol Hoops Summer League, where several players stood out. Here we drop our notebook from the day, which includes evaluations on many of the new prospects we saw.

#1 6’1 SG Ronald Ayers | Flint Hill | Class of 2020

Shoots it well. Left handed. Likes to get out in transition and find teammates. Uses ball fakes effectively.

6’6 PF Michael Bass | Whitman | Class of 2020

Athletic forward with a high motor. Good rebounder out of his area. Fundmaentally sound.

#20 6’9 C Noel Brown | Flint Hill | Class of 2020

Big body with long arms. Scores with his back to the basket. Doesn’t move too quickly laterally. Has good strong hands. Rebounds. Blocks shots. Stays active. Rim runs.

#21 Justin Cook | Springbrook | Class of 2020

Good three point shooter. Rebounds. Decent secondary ball handler.

#1 5’9 PG Amare Curtis | Springbrook | Class of 2022

Quick, skilled lead guard with long arms and broad shoulders. Looks like he is still growing. Solid ball handler. Must  get stronger so he can take contact at the basket.

#25 6’5 PF Douda Dembele | Springbrook | Class of 2021

Long lanky forward with good defensive potential. Will take a charge. Plays with a high motor. Hits the offensive glass. Has nice touch around the rim.

#30 6’5 PF Jack Dolan | Flint Hill | Class of 2020?

Sees the floor well. Can make shots from the perimeter if left open.

#32 6’0 SG Justin Fraser | Flint Hill | Class of 2020?

Has nice touch from mid range. Good shooter from the catch. Fills the lanes correctly in transition.

#2 6’0 PG Xavier Harris | Springbrook | Class of 2019

Good paint getter and ball handler. Finishes at odd angles. Has good length and can defend a variety of positions.

#55 6’3 SG Dylan Thompson | Springbrook | Class of 2021

Robustly built guard with long arms. Skilled lefty. Has nice touch from mid range. Good rebounder. Plays hard and communicates consistently. Can defend multiple positions. Still developing a consistent three point shot.
