An Interview with Devan Cambridge
Last summer the state of Tennessee lost three top ten players to transfer (Damion Baugh, K.K. Curry, T.J. Moss). It might be happening again.
“I’ll be attending Hillcrest Academy in Arizona this year,” shared PrepHoopsTN #8 Devan Cambridge. The explosive 6-foot-6 wing transferred a year ago from Pope John Paul II in Hendersonville, Tennessee to Believe Prep Academy in Athens, Tennessee. As one of the youngest players in the Class of 2018 he also reclassed to 2019. It looks like his final year of high school will be spent at Hillcrest Prep.
He moves in the first week of August.
Is he excited?
“Yessir this is a big opportunity and they love me and want me to be there man,” said Devan Cambrdige. “I will be on the biggest stage this year.”

Cambridge is working out with Manimal Elite 17u. He will run with them in July.
E”I’ll be with Manimal elite this July and we’re going to California, New York, and Florida,” said Cambridge.
With Manimal’s AAU team Devan hopes to expand on his already expansive college interest.
Recruiting
Many college coaches are in contact with Devan and his family.
“South Carolina, WKU, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Austin Peay, ETSU, Kentucky State, Furman, Green Bay, Hartford,” shared Cambridge.
Most of those listed are offers. Vanderbilt and Auburn currently register in the interest column. Playing for Hillcrest Prep should net some unique college looks. Hillcrest competes on The Grind Session, a collection of prep school teams. Tennessee Prep plays on that circuit too.
Morehead State, Vanderbilt, Western Kentucky, and Austin Peay are the most aggressive of late. They all have made Devan a priority in the 2019 class.
With so many interested teams already communicating this summer could be a time for visits. Has Devan been out on the road checking out campuses?
“No, I’ve just been focused on my training,” said Devan Cambridge. “Preparing for this LIVE period.”
The key for Devan is development. At 6-foot-6 he has the perfect frame for a wing. His athleticism is tremendous. Honestly, a player like him has an outside shot at professional basketball.
“I train with Jamal Richardson sometimes, which is Darius Garland’s trainer and other times either my uncle of just myself,” said Cambridge. “I want to work on my upper body strength, ball-handling, vertical jump and just further understanding the game.”
Be careful as Devan Cambridge lifts off.
