2020 Top Performers : Newberry Team Camp
Prep Hoops takes a look at some of the 2020 Top Performers from the Newberry Team Camp.
Kelton Talford – Great Falls HS
Talford was a man on the boards all day long. Talford plays so great on both ends of the floor and on the glass. Talford does all of his work inside the paint around the cup. Talford has a solid core group around him this season to help the Red Devils make a run in 1A State Ranks. Talford averaged 19.4 ppg and 11.1 rebounds last season for the Red Devils.
Zay Chalmers – Newberry HS (pictured on front)
Chalmers is a multi-sport athlete. Chalmers excels on the football field also for the Bulldogs as a quarterback. Chalmers 6’3 has great body control to get to the basket and really looks to push the ball up in transition. Chalmers is very vocal on the floor and really directs traffic well for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs finished last season at (17-7) under longtime Head Coach Chad Gary.
Dallan Wright – Saluda HS
Wright like most of the Saluda HS Tigers plays football in the fall. Wright a wide receiver plays AAU with the Carolina Pressure. Wright is best when attacking the basket has great length and defends the passing lanes well. Wright averaged 7 ppg and 4 rebounds last season for the Tigers.
Darjawuan Brown – North Charleston HS
Brown is back for his junior season with the Cougars and will look to build on his 19.5 ppg from last season. Brown will need to pickup the slack especially with Dashawn Murray (2020) out for a period of time this summer and fall. Brown has a knack to score the ball from anywhere on the floor. Brown has the ability to score the ball at all 3 levels on the floor and shows to score the ball in bunches when given the opportunity. Brown wants the ball in crunch time.
