2019 Wing Stock Risers
Let’s examine what wing prospects at the shooting guard and small forward positions in the 2019 class elevated their stock the most in the latest rankings update.
Dajuan Gordon (Curie)
Previous Ranking: #15
Current Ranking: #3
Gordon was a player that we were pretty high on already, but he has taken it to another gear this spring with Team Rose. The rangy 6’4” small forward has been a huge stock riser with consistent play game in and game out. He has scored it at a high rate all spring with his lethal perimeter shot. His growth as a driver and especially as a rebounder has allowed him to get several more buckets a game.
Tujautae Williams (Orr)
Previous Ranking: #91
Current Ranking: #22
Williams flashed potential with Orr last high school season, but with a loaded senior roster he wasn’t quite able to show what he could fully do. That has changed this spring as he was one of the best Illinois players at the Battle at the Lakes while dominating for the Chicago Demons. Projectable wing with size and slashing ability. Chance to be an above average defender long term.
Julian Barr (Lincoln Way East)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #26
Barr literally came out of nowhere with his play for Team RWA this spring. There have been a lot of kids getting offers and interest on that team, but this is the one that intrigues us the most. He is a flat out stud shooting the basketball from beyond the arc. Barr has deep range on his shot and can also score at the rim when defenses close hard on him. Broke out at the Battle at the Lakes.
Greg Outlaw (Bogan)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #46
Outlaw is a freak show athlete on the wing that put his name on the map at multiple tournaments particularly Midwest Throwdown and Run N Slam for Chicago Select. The 6’4” strong and athletic wing plays with a high motor, rebounds, and attacks the rim with authority. Should be part of a strong team at Bogan next year.
Demetrius Douglas (North Lawndale)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #50
Douglas is a scoring two guard that we really liked in several early evaluations of Team Rose at their own tournament and in Madison at the ROCK Showcase. He has a smooth scoring game with some developmental upside.
Jamir Price (Rock Island)
Previous Ranking: #73
Current Ranking: #54
Price closed the high school season strong with some big games for Rock Island and continued that into a solid spring with Quad City Elite. Two guard has a smooth scoring repertoire and has become more efficient with his shot selection.
Kameron Battle (Oswego East)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #57
Battle is the son of former Illini great Kenny Battle. High energy forward that gets on the offensive glass, finishes in transition, and is a sound perimeter defender. Played well with Team Rose especially early in the spring.
Ryland Holt (Gibson City)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #82
Holt is a big wing from Gibson City High School that burst onto our radar with the Illinois Irish at Swish N Dish. Floor spacer that can really shoot the basketball especially off the catch. At the small college level he can be a mismatch nightmare.
Keith Kiner (Chester)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #84
Kiner closed out May strong with nice back to back tournaments with the Illinois Bears at the Arch Elite Showcase and Show Me Showdown. High energy junk yard dog type wing that is a big time athlete. Flashes offensive skill.
Ikenna Okeke (Bolingbrook)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #88
Okeke could be one of the breakout players for Bolingbrook this year. He plays bigger than his height with long arms being able to defend multiple positions. Jump shot really came along well and was super impressive at the Midwest Throwdown.
